Mechanical Engineer

4moms has introduced robotics technology to the juvenile industry with our suite of high-tech baby gear, including the world’s first power-folding stroller. 

We incorporate mechatronic technology and electronics into our products to expand their functions and increase ease of use.  We design every product we make with intense attention to detail.  Our people are smart, talented and passionate; yet humble enough to unload the dishwasher when it’s full.  We are looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to the team!

4moms Mechanical Engineers are energetic, take initiative, and have a broad understanding of mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes, as well as reasonable understanding in electrical and/or software engineering. They demonstrate a clear sense of immediacy, action, and leadership in problem solving, whether problems are acute or chronic.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide ongoing product production support
  • Introduce product quality improvements
  • Provide timely product quality issue mitigation
  • Identify and implement cost improvement/containment strategies
  • Evaluate and approve alternative materials
  • Support product line expansion
  • Create new product configurations, manage component obsolescence, and running changes
  • Oversee life cycle, reliability, and change validation testing protocols

What we need from you:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain/Sustaining Engineering environments
  • Familiar with DFA/DFM best practices for complex assemblies and plastic parts
  • Willing to get your hands dirty and support debugging process, prototype build and product testing
  • Understanding of Documentation Control including the use of:
    • Bill of Materials
    • Device Master & History Records
    • Revision control & history
    • Component specifications
    • Engineering Change Orders
  • Strong Vendor/Manufacturing partner relationship management experience
  • Demonstrates clear communication and leadership qualities
  • Willingness to learn and can-do attitude
  • Experience designing and modifying parts in CAD software (Solidworks Preferred)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, 15-20% of the time

Really nice to have:

  • Proficiency with Project Management practices
  • M.S. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Plastics or Robotics
  • Experience working with complex mechatronic or electrical systems
  • Experience working with Contract Manufacturers
